Tom Braun, Milwaukee, and Nathaniel Raghez, Milwaukee, spiritedly debate opposite sides of Wisconsin's proposed budget repair bill near the state Capitol in Madison, Wis., Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011. Nearby observers voiced their approval of the civil discussion between the two. Despite their disagreements, Braun and Raghez joked about carpooling back to Milwaukee together. "If we shut off the thread of conversation – the ability to dialogue – then we are shutting ourselves off as saying, 'I'm right, you're wrong,'" said Braun. Raghez added: "I don't feel an urge to rage. I feel that I am standing up for a good cause, a reasonable cause, and that if I can actually talk to somebody about what they believe, we may or may not agree but at least I can feel like I'm able to speak with somebody in a trustworthy, open and upfront fashion."
