Ruth Melzer poses for a portrait on the Wayne G. Bryan Bridge in Neenah, Wis., Thursday afternoon, Oct. 9, 2008, not far from where she, her husband, Robert, and another cyclist, were struck by drunk driver Sheila Burr on July 1, 2007. Robert Melzer died from his injuries, while Ruth continues therapy to recover from hers. She has now begun advocating against drunk driving.
