Perron Nicholas poses for a portrait in the house he and Mary Lauten recently purchased on the west side of Madison, Wis., Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014. Nicholas and Lauten scheduled a showing of the house the morning it was listed, and within one day they were one of six parties bidding on it.
